Educational background

Dr. Martin Boileau obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1986 at Université de Montréal, where he also completed his medical degree and an overspecialization in ophthalmology. He then went on to do a fellowship in oculoplastics and tear ducts at McGill University at the end of the 1990s.

 

Refractive experience

With 25 years of experience in his field, Dr. Boileau has been performing approximately 1,500 cataract procedures per year for over 10 years. In addition to specializing in the implantation of all types of multifocal lenses, he performs LASIK, PRK, RLE, All-Laser LASIK and Laser PresbyVision™ procedures. For the past 8 years, he’s been innovating by offering his patients bilateral laser cataract surgeries. A true pioneer, he inaugurated the ophthalmology service of the Hôpital Laurentien in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts in 1996, which he heralded until 2010. In 1998, he also founded the Iris Ophthalmology Clinic in Laval, a medical centre specializing in laser refractive surgery and crystalline lens replacement, where he acted as Chief Surgeon for more than 20 years. Furthermore, he is the founder and president of the Institut de l’œil des Laurentides. He’s also been working as an ophthalmologist at the Saint-Jérôme Agency for Health and Social Services since 1996.

 

Accomplishments and awards

Throughout his career, Dr. Boileau has attended many conferences and been part of nearly 20 studies. He’s had his findings published in numerous scientific journals. Always mindful to pass along his knowledge, he has also supervised many optometry interns over the years.
